De belles oeuvres et du beau monde pour cette présentation privée des oeuvres de l'artiste Sébastien Mehal, qui termine sa résidence à L'Artocarpe.

Membres et invités sont venus dire au revoir à l'artiste
L'Artocarpe remains a space where professionals and members of the public eager to get more exchange with artists, engaged in contemporary art, can meet up spontaneously.
That was the case yesterday with this private presentation of the paintings of artist and member Sébastien Mehal (Martinique - Paris) who concluded a nice solo residency with style.

De.Construction is the new series of paintings by Sébastien Mehal. It engages with the continuing theme of Caribbean urban spaces, which are rapidly turning up into Western-type of dwellings, leaving behind, all trace of cultural elements that were constitutive of the French Caribbean identity.
Mehal's first residence at L'Artocarpe back in 2011, was referring to the unofficial political practice of burning down old wooden houses to market the land to developers.

Colleagues Philippe Thomarel, Jean-Marc Hunt, Thierry Alet were among the professionals present at L'Artocarpe...
No doubt that feedback and discussions were very rich...
Many thanks to them all for making it up to Le Moule!

Sébastien Mehal à L'Artocarpe - Août 2014
Sebastien Mehal chose L'Artocarpe for the second time to work on his new paintings series. As a member based in Paris, L'Artocarpe is a good alternative to be back in the Caribbean while getting all he needs to pursue his work.
It is to be expected that a third time will follow: "jamais deux sans trois!" as the French say!
